A very average Hotel in Auckland

Sometimes it pays to do more research

That evening we stayed in Auckland in the same suburb as the airport is located.  Not a good move really.  The suburb is Mangere and to be kind, it is not the most salubrious area in the world.  We knew we would have a few drinks on the flight travel which was why we decided to stay in Auckland but on reflection, it would have been more sensible to travel to the city and stay there.

We stayed in a hotel called Comfort Inn – Silver Point.  It was basic at best but we arrived late in the afternoon and were leaving first thing in the morning so didn’t stress too much.  The kids were most unimpressed but frankly they are snobs!

In hindsight it would pay to do more research or maybe even ring the hotel to try and find out exactly what the accommodation was like.  It was a pity as there are a number of better hotels in the immediate area.
