Bully Hayes - Akaroa (South Island)

Open 7 days a week even in winter!

Bully Hayes is a bar/cafe/restaurant on the waterfront in Akaroa and it is the ideal place to drop in for a quick snack, a full meal or maybe even just a drink.  The menu is extensive and can be viewed at www.akaroabankspeninsula.co.nz.  Bully Hayes does have its own website but this was experiencing problems when we last tried to view it.

If you happen to be in Akaroa on a Thursday evening make sure you try their $10.00 special - great value for money and from others who are locals we are told that a dish has not been repeated since they started offering the special.

The beers on tap are Monteiths and they are a masterpiece of the brewing art.  The wine list is extensive and again not overly expensive.  Ask to try the local Banks Peninsula wines.

Service was friendly as you would expect in a small town but we were dining with locals and in Akaroa everyone knows their neighbours.

The fact that Bully Hayes is open 7 days a week makes this a restaurant that you are sure to try if you are staying in Akaroa for anymore than a few days.
