Mercure Hotel Dunedin

Small boutique hotel that is part of the Accor group.

The Mercure Hotel is in central Dunedin, only a short walk from the historic Octagon city centre and main shopping precinct.  This boutique hotel features 50 rooms, a street front restaurant, lobby bar and conference facilites for up to 200 delegates.

The first thing that struck us about the Mercure was the lobby and lift.  The ceilings are extremely high as you would expect in a building that was constructed in the Victorian era.  The lift was also from that era but this only added to the overall ambience.  The rooms although very small were adequate and the bed was very comfortable.

The restaurant service was a trifle slow but the food was extremely good.  The unfortunate thing is that with most hotels the food and especially the wine was overpriced.  Car parking was in a public car park but valet service is offered for a small charge.

What we will say about the Mercure is that the location is fantastic and the friendliness of the staff made up for the small blemmishes.

We would recommend the Mercure if your stay is short as ours was and you want to be in a central location.
