Plateau - Taupo (North Island)

Plateau restaurant in Taupo is a combination brasserie/bar and has a really good ambience.

We had one of the best meals of our trip at Plateau restaurant in Taupo. This is quite an accolade given the number of meals we had at good restaurants. Plateau is a fairly new establishment centrally located in the centre of Taupo. It is a combination brasserie/bar and has a really good ambience.

We hadn’t booked so had to wait around half an hour in the bar. There was an open fire and the staff were excellent in looking after us. One of the things that impressed us was that the age group of the patrons was similar to our own making it a comfortable environment for us. They seem to cater for the 35+ year old although I’m pretty sure that younger people would not feel out of place.

Eventually we were called into the restaurant where we were served a delicious and imaginative meal. Dessert ( not something that we normally go for) was a stand-out with hokey pokey ice-cream topped with a delicious chocolate/caramel sauce. Yum!! We would highly recommend Plateau for a really good night out in Taupo. Not cheap but not outrageously expensive either.
