Queenstown Restaurants

There is a wide variety of restaurants in Queenstown.

Fishbone - Queenstown (South Island)

As the name suggests, a seafood restaurant. This restaurant is a great place to take the family for great, simple, relatively unadorned and very tasty food.  Service is efficient and the cost is reasonable for such enormous helpings. Seating is either in cubicles or standard tables and the waiting staff are very good and more often than not travellers from overseas.  They can be interesting to talk to if they are not too busy.

Wild Thyme - Queenstown

This restaurant is attached to one of the casinos (yes, in such a tiny place, there are 2 casinos). Prices were reasonable and they had an open kitchen so if you want to, you can watch the chef work. The menu is broad so there will be something to suit everyone. Service here was excellent and we were very well looked after by a waitress who offered advice on things to do whilst in Queenstown.  The only issue is that on a certain night of the week, they run Bingo which happened in the bar adjacent to the restaurant which can prove to be very noisy and distracting.

Sombreros - Queenstown

A Mexican restaurant as you would expect with all the usual menu items such as tacos, nachos, enchiladas etc. Filling and satisfying as well as reasonably priced.  Another place to take the family as the food caters to all tastes including the children.

Captain’s Table - Queenstown

A more upmarket menu with more upmarket prices. Food delicious with a seafood slant. Service was very good although we detected a slightly (just very slightly) superior attitude from our waiter which was unnecessary.
