The Green Room - Wanaka
Unfortunately the only restaurant that we went to in Wanaka for an evening meal. My brother had eaten there several times for lunch and breakfast and had always been impressed. The evening that we went, it was a complete shambles. Admittedly there was a crowd of us (10 people) but that does not excuse the disgusting food that was dished up to us - undercooked fish, overcooked steak, a greek salad with no fetta or olives, one meal that didn’t turn up at all and everyone receiving their meals at different times. It would appear that others at the restaurant were encountering the same problem. We were told that there was a new chef on. I would say that to call someone who was producing such abysmal food a chef would be stretching the truth somewhat and it is also a complete insult to those who have seriously trained as chefs. I’m inclined to think that perhaps the “chef” was a backpacker along with the waitresses serving us. We did get a discount but it was very unfortunate that our one evening in Wanaka was soured somewhat by this truly sub-standard meal.
